I can't possibly criticise - I can only disagree with your choice of title. It IS perfect! And, no I am not just being nice, I genuinely mean it! And I love the way you have described the pattern on her lovely dress too :0)
ReplyDeleteKathryn, I just love this portrait, you have captured her expression completely, yet it still has a soft watercolor feel to it. Love her hair and the lighting and her expression. The only suggestion I can come up with is I would soften the jaw line a touch, as the high contrast here, takes my eye away from her eye, which by the way, is amazing, your talent is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteIts an excellent painting. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI would soften the jaw line too, because it does draw you away from the eye as Maria says.

Excellent portrait, congratulations Kathryn!. It is not easy to capture the expression that you've achieved. Is great that you have made your own free interpretation based on the picture, you have not followed to the letter. That's much more creative. Great job!
ReplyDeleteKathruyn positive thought you hold in your interpretation and I believe that the exercise was good, you gotta give the facial features of the model which is critical in a portrait.
ReplyDeleteI liked very much and congratulate you.

Wonderful work Kathryn! I can't see a thing wrong with it. :) I do love her expression and the free mingling colors in her shirt like others have said. Overall it is a beautiful piece! Bravo!!
ReplyDeletereally wonderful .... kathryn paint more :)
ReplyDeletethis is beautifully done. the portrait is what you see when you look at the photo, there's no way to critique your vision...it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteKathryn, I love it ..what a fierce expression, and I think that the strong jaw line somehow is right in this case, emphasizing the strength of the subject.
