MANY more glazes on the shroomers
Initially, I was going to do a soft tree-ish background, but decided it would be too overwhelming for the simplicity of the mushrooms. I did a very w/w wash of phthalo green mixed with quin. burnt orange, and added drops of aureolin. It was a bit hard to "control", but I think it turned out. The rest of the painting is, and will continue to be, very thin glazes softened to almost nothing. I lost all track of time this evening, so this is it for tonight. As ALWAYS, please leave a note if you have a question or comment. |
As you know from my own recent post, I just LOVE fungi! Why is that? I don't kmow what it is. Maybe it takes me back to the fairy stories I used to read where there was always an elf living in a toadstool! This painting looks as though it is going to be fabulous! I love that soft background. I am looking forward to seeing the finished painting :0)
ReplyDeleteKathryn, this is lovely. What a great photo you have to work from. Stay with it. Your background with it's streaks does give it that light forest feel I think you were looking for.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more..love the process share..looks good
ReplyDeleteI love it Kathryn! I love Sandra's comment because that's how I feel about mushrooms too! There is something so magical about them. And you've definetly captured that here. :)
ReplyDeleteKathryn, a few years ago, I had made a shot of a beautiful mushroom to paint. I thought it would be easy...but I never finished it, too difficult, at least at that time. But you are proceeding in quite a different way than I did, and YOUR mushroom is looking GOOD! So I am really looking forward to see the final result.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
This is looking fantastic! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is really looking good. I do like what is happening in the background as well. It has the forestry feel without being too busy. artbywendysblog.blogspot.com
