Two foreground geese masked. |
Start w/w washes. |
More washes, and loose shadows. With background geese, I tried lifting while wash was wet. It worked quite well. |
Mask off. |
Starting on their heads, necks and feet. |
More detail painting on heads and feathers. |
They are looking fantastic! I have also had a productive day in the art room today. It has been VERY windy and there has been plenty of rain, so what else is there to do! That's why I love rainy days :0)

I am so glad you are pleased with your work Kathryn, these geese really put a smile on your face, they almost inspire me to write a story like 'Once upon a time ' ...... :-)) I just love them, the background and the bottom. Fabulous work!!! Have a nice sunday. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you really love it, because its stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the progression shots, Kathryn! This really turned out great.
ReplyDeleteI love how geese seem to take on different personalities. Like the one barking commands and the one bringing up the rear! :)
This is a lovely piece, Kathryn; the geese have real personalities, and the background just shimmers, serving perfectly (along with those beautiful shadows) to focus us on those proud geese. I have enjoyed returning to your blog and browsing a number of posts--love the way you show us the painting process.
ReplyDeleteEasy to understand why you REALLY like this one!! :-)
