YAY!!! Buddy Is Going to the Framer Today

I did a bit of touching up. I darkened the entire ear, as I found it stood out too much. I put in a bit more shading on his muzzle and eyebrows. I touched up a few spots on the perimeter of Buddy's image. And of course put on my signature.

Some close-up shots. I really am proud of his eyes. Buddy always did so intently speak to you with his eyes.

Well, it's done! What an effort. I so much wanted to capture the soul of Buddy. He was such a cool dog - a rescue, who just eased his way totally into all our lives. I will take him into White Rock to my favorite framers after I've played with Bruno this morning.
Then I will start working on some ideas for a Vancouver cityscape. I must admit I found it difficult to find something about the city that I still found I loved, and that reminded me of the old Vancouver. It's changed so unbelievably much in the past ten to fifteen years. Right now, I'm thinking of doing something with the Burrard Bridge with the mountains [of course] in the background.

As ever, your comments are always welcome!

  2. Wow!wow! (no pun intended) I just love Buddy. You've made such a terrific job of him, Kathryn, every detail is perfect.

He looks very similar to my Mutley who, together with Mitzi, were both rescue dogs. He died at 15, Mitzi just lay down and died a few days later.

I only ever spent one night in Vancouver - we had flown Prince Charles up from Australia. Think we took him onto Toronto. Long time ago now.

    Lovely picture :0))...those eyes!!

  3. Buddy came out phenomenal Kathryn. You should be proud. The eyes are incredible. This is a beautiful portrait--it was well worth your sweat. I'm sorry to hear that about Vancouver; it's still on my list of places to go. Should my son buy the house of his dreams in Seattle, we're planning to fly over and see it. I was hoping to work in Vancouver at that time. My son and his lady love taking short trips there.

  15. You must be very pleased with Buddy now Kathryn. My only gripe - and of course I just have to have one - is that you didn't alter the 'frilly' bits above his eyes. However, fortunately they don't detract from the portrait - well only to my eyes ;) - so I am sure his owners will be absolutely thrilled :) M the Merciless

    ciao gloria
