Thin w/w washes of aureolin, quin. rose and cobalt blue. |
More of the same for the background, with a thin glaze of yellow, pink and indanthrone for shadows on the petals. |
Branches added - quin. burnt orange, quin. violet and indanthrone. The buds are painted with greens of aureolin, burnt orange and indanthrone. |
I added a thin wash of greys in the upper right. |
I started to go over the petal shadows with a mixture of violet and indanthrone. |
I am here now. It doesn't quite say what I want it to say. Do I have the guts to go in there again??? |
... then started in with the darks for the background. To be continued!! That's all for now. Thank you for dropping by! |
Beautiful and so delicately painted!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are still painting Kathryn. I like to see what you have in the works. Your work is always inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWe love to visit and see what you're working on, Miss Kathryn. You are so supertalented!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your softer approach Kathryn... those soft diffused edges are so gorgeous! :0)

The flowers are so soft and beatiful! The portrait is great already, and looking forward to Drake II!
ReplyDeleteOf course you're going to go back in there; the painting is coming a long too great to abandon ship. Nice portrait. He brings a lot of character to the project. Sorry about the dog, but that is how the fur and paper bits fly sometimes. Life ain't perfect, that's why it's fun.
ReplyDeleteThe magnolia is lovely but it doesn't have a lot of darks to make it pop and even if you want to soften the back edges, you can still do that. I like how you are always working towards a goal and keeping busy with a lot of paintings at once!
