I started adding depth to her body. I may have to be more intense with hue, as the head and neck look so wrong now. Looking at it, I thought some pink, blue and burnt orange, delicately applied would help.
The weather is most un-Spring-like; most days we have some snow falling but not staying. I feel so sorry for Bruno, out in his somewhat soggy paddock. I know it's not doing his feet any good, so I've started putting his hay in the stall where it's dry; for some reason he's not thrilled with the arrangement, or just unused to it, but he'll be fine. It's too miserable to ride outside, so I've taken to hand-walking him in the park, where the footing is hard. That way, we BOTH get some exercise! :) |
Kathryn, I like these....love the chicken and the background texture....snowing, really?....
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting of Buddy looking at it from here. Funny I see this today. I was just thinking I should attempt a portrait of our black lab. He's long gone, but I saw Marley and Me the other night and cried my eyes out watching Marley's owner stroke the yellow lab's tail as the vet put the dog to sleep. Great movie, brought back lots of fond memories. I like your rooster too--it is a rooster, right? It's coming a long great! I'm sorry to hear that it's snowing where you are. Here it's a balmy seventy degrees and sunny. I hope your snow isn't coming our way. I did put away Winter. I was hoping that would be that.
ReplyDeleteSnowing?? Oh no! Though chilly today it has been very sunny so it still feels like spring is coming. I am most looking forward to when the clocks go forward at the end of the month. I can't WAIT for warmth and long days :0D
ReplyDeleteAt least you have an excuse to paint! And they are looking great already! :0)
Exercise is GOOD Kathryn, especially if you sit around painting too much :-))) Can't believe it is snowing, you must be so fed up! But at least you get the time to proceed with Buddy , he is looking so real! Send you a warm hug from nice and sunny Spring weather here .
ReplyDeleteOh Buddy looks great! Snowing? I hope spring will arrive soon!

ReplyDeleteBoth paintings are coming along beautifully! I love how soft you manage to get your washes. nerve wracking business though isn't it? And I'm glad you are both getting some exercise, way to look on the bright side!
