I masked the chick's perimeter, and the corn at her feet, and did a different w/w wash. I REALLY like the effect - subtle, but gives a bit of depth. |
Some quin. burnt orange and aureolin on her neck. |
Varied greys of aureolin, pink and cobalt blue on her body, and some more intense blue-black on her neck. |
She just looks so busy, in a chicken-ish sort of way. She makes me smile - I had to share. Actually, I am having so much fun painting her, I almost feel guilty! |
fun ...like the bg textures look like you used cling film
ReplyDeleteThe background is great!
ReplyDeleteShe makes me smile too! Don't feel guilty. Fun is what art's about--unless you're Edvard Munch. I'm not having fun with my kids--but then when my kids were little like the kids I'm painting, they really weren't much fun either--just a lot of work! I like the way you show your progress. It gives me insights into watercolor I never knew existed.
ReplyDeleteIt's high time I drew my own chickens! This one promises to be fabulous!! :0)
ReplyDeleteUna obra interesante y el fondo muy original. Saludos.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Kathryn! The background creates a nice farm like feel, just love it.

ReplyDeleteThis is getting a very light and airy feeling.. Really want to see where you stop. And the background is very interesting. Is it a cling film effect??
ReplyDeleteI love it Kathryn! She does look very busily chickenish. :) The background really sets her off, and I love the texture in her feathers. Stop feeling guilty and enjoy it!! The best work happens when you're having the most fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the background texture. The chicken is really funny. Lucky you to be able to have the study in the farm. saludos
ReplyDeleteNice effect, Kathryn. This is going to be beautiful when finished. Always interesting to see the final piece!
