Are We There Yet?????


I left Miss Krystie here ...

And, believe it or not,  I have done a fair bit of glazing, both wet-in-wet and dry-brush. I darkened all of her left side in shadow, and touched up the face. I also lightly painted some strokes of thin black on the perimeter of the painting. And I am appalled at how poorly this portrait has come up on the screen, I am almost considering not posting! It is so lacking in richness of color and depth. Never mind. I will take her to Peggy for approval tomorrow.
Sorry about the rant, but there is no comparison between the screen image and the real thing.

    I think she is so beautiful with the tapestry of interwoven warms and cools that you have created and I know your clients will be so happy! That being said, I also feel your pain. There is just no way a photograph of a work of art, displayed on a computer screen can even begin to approach the beauty and majesty of the true painting.

    I'm slowly making my way down my side board. This is one cute pup. Excellent portrait of a sweetheart. One observation: the line on the top of his head is too harsh, needs to be softened and faded into the background.

    I find photographing my work to be the hardest part - my latest bear is nowhere near as rich in the photo as it is in real life. And it's all grainy... Still, we are Artists and not photographers! The painting is absolutely fabulous! :0)

    I can understand your problem of photographing your paintings. I am sure all of us face this problem. I was thinking may be I'll pick up art photography and start a business out of it. LOL.
    Anyway this painting looks really beautiful even on screen here. I am sure it will be really amazing in real.
