Dratted blogger keeps placing this painting at the top, and I have tried to place it at the bottom 5 times. Suppose I'll leave it here. This is a painting I did in one of my few art classes, more than ten years ago. Probably a bit ambitious, but ignorance is truly bliss! I think it's about the same size as the Rio favela painting-to-be. It is based on a photo I took of my sister, when we were in Venice, again many years ago. I had it framed for Denise, and she likes it, but somehow it never made it to the wall of her home. She always wants to wait till she's finished renovating and decorating and ... So I most happily have it hanging at my place! :) I love it - one of my favorite paintings. |
This is fantastic, Kathryn! SO different from your other paintings! I really love it and look forward to seeing your next post. Your sister is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think its beautiful! And I am amazed how you worked out all the details in this complex scene.I can very well understand the delay..it happens with me all the time when i take up a rather large or complex painting which require multiple sittings. But you did well!
ReplyDeleteLove this finished painting of your sister - the well-placed touches of red are wonderful! Looking forward to you latest painting but have to always check when you say "big" painting because, to me, only a full sheet (22 x 30) is big. ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWow! Yes - I think it's my favourite too! It is amazing! I love how glamorous she looks in her bright red dress and perfectly painted finger nails... It's awesome! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh this is going to be a hard one!!! But you can do it!
ReplyDeleteWe have that problem with blogger too,,, it rearranges our photos!

wow, it is amazing, love Diana
ReplyDeleteI love the painting of your sister too, really shows how versatile you are. Can't remember having seen any human figures before , and this is incredibly classy, wonderful !
ReplyDeleteI love it too - you have captured this very complex scene and figure of your sister beautifully! I bet it looks stunning framed and on the wall.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing. I know it sounds 'trite' but I really did think it was a photo when I first looked at your Blog post. Tell your Sister to crack on with the decorating so she can give this pride of place in her home LOL
ReplyDeleteBlogger can be a pain at times can't it. I'm sure you've tried already but when Blogger does this to me I select HTML mode rather than Compose mode and move the code that way - seems to work
It should be on top, the painting is great!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a fabulous painting, Kathryn!
