Still Cold ... Still Snowy ... Still Painting ...

The view outside my front door this morning

"Hens and Chicks"
A photo I took at Western Gardens 2 years ago

This should keep me busy for a while

Another one from Western Gardens

I may pay for not masking completely, with slightly uneven washes, but the background is going to be very dark, so I might be all right.

I really needed something  warm and summery to paint, and a break from working with all the blacks and darks in Buddy's portrait. So I dug into my photo library, and came out with 2 photos I took [of many] at a local nursery.
Ahhhh, I can feel the heat!!!
As always, please feel most welcome to leave a comment!

  2. Send some snow over here please! Preferably enough to keep me at home until I have finished my reports and been sledging on Dartmoor.
I love watching your paintings evolve.

  3. You should come visit us in Alabama 70 and sunny, well raining today but for the most part sunny:) These are going to be gorgeous and you may like the effects you get from not masking the entire thing. I get scared with masking fluid, had it tint my paper yellowish one time:(( So I use it very conservatively now.

  4. Comforting paintings of summer. They really look good...specially the Aeonium you can already tell is a winner. And outside it is looking so pittoresque, but I wish for you that the sun will come and take it all away :-)

  8. We awoke to snow this morning and have about six inches on the ground. The Westies love the snow and romped around burying their faces in the snow. Happy puppies; happy mama because I'll get to paint today. Your starts are looking great. I finished a painting yesterday with a lot of yellow...I think I'm ready for spring. Looking forward to seeing your finished work, too.

  9. Ah, but what in nature is ever 'even'? I'll bet it was meant to be and it will be just beautiful!

  10. Haha! I see you have the same habit as me -- likes to have a few paintings going! The first few washes are looking great!
