This one came out relatively well. I did a w/w wash, with no masking, of quin. gold and cobalt blue - they flow so beautifully together. |
This leaf is all right, too. |
I would have been better to have stopped here, but ... |
... I wanted to go darker. Mistake. |
Creeping along with thin washes of quin. red, quin. burnt orange and indanthrone blue. |
I found a few drawing errors, and I wanted to show more of his chest, and the neck in proper proportion. I think he is coming along better than Trigger I. As always, your comments are most welcome. |
A simple but engaging subject so beautifully done. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAmazing to think, Kathryn, that you discarded Trigger 1, whilst for me to have produced it would have been above my wildest dream.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit like the tea advert that says 'It is the teas we discard that makes out teas the best. :0)
I love the leaves, I've tried to paint some yesterday! And good luck with Trigger II!
ReplyDeleteYou started again?? Well I loved Trigger 1 - but it'll be interesting to see how trigger 2 turns out. And I just love those autumnal treasures, don't you? :0)
ReplyDeleteOh, Pat, I LOVE the leaves, so simple and so much fall warm color. And Trigger is coming along nicely (although I loved Trigger 1 as well!)

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I am taking a break from blogging and closing my blogs. You have always been so kind to leave comments from time to time so wanted to let you know. I wish you all success with your own painting career.

Gorgeous runs in the first leaf! I really like the cast shadows of 2 and 3.
ReplyDeleteI agree on #4...the shadow appears heavier than the leaf.
Am looking forward to your new Trigger.(I think the first one looks great!)
Love seeing your great watercolors, Kathryn!
Trigger is coming along, right now he looks like a ghost slowly emerging from the paper. It will be neat to see the finish.
ReplyDeleteYour leaves are beautiful Kathryn! I love the shadows underneath them. :) I also like how simple, but effective design wise they are.
ReplyDeleteAnd Trigger's form is looking great. You have a solid foundation there.
Lovely leaves Kathryn! They look as if they just fell of the tree. Great fresh approach. That what Fall does to us, eh..
