Here I was, humming along, looking cute ... Disaster struck! For Pat's liking, the geese did not stand out well. I sent out a plea for ideas, and got three reasonable ideas - none of which I followed [to my chagrin]. Thank you very much Audrey Montoya [great watercolorist - check out her blog], Annie Bennett [lovely and eclectic blog] and of course Crystal Cook, who always answers a call for help and advice on painting and selling paintings. I really appreciate your ideas!!! |
Ik vind het heel mooi geworden ze waggelen echt lieve groetjes Danielle
ReplyDeleteAdding the grass is SO SO beautiful, Kathryn...it just added the story behind the geese. I can't wait to see all the colors you're going to add...love the shadows as well...!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure what to say, Kathryn. can yo lighten the vegitation? Ah well you can always start again, it would be a pity to waste such a good image
ReplyDeleteI think your very brave for trying new things..
ReplyDeleteBut we love everything you do. Each painting is its own special painting--- we love them all.

You can do it. You are. The background will work. Just keep your geese the same. Love them. keep it simple. looking forward to seeing it when you are ready. take care, Kathryn, love,Diana
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if you are handling it well -your own way :)
ReplyDeleteI can't offer you any advise on this, but I love the geese...
ReplyDeleteJust don't overdo the background( as I do sometimes) and let it rest for some time if you are not sure.
Why do you think it's bad?
ReplyDeleteI really, genuinely like it a lot! In fact it's one of my favorite of your bird paintings so far! I think its the way the light really stands out where it hits the birds. There's a real sense of low, warm sunlight! :0)
PS. Personally I'd be reluctant to do anything more in case you over-work it... It's lovely, just as it is! :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the last one - don't do any more, but sign it and walk away!
ReplyDeleteI love your composition and what is happening in the picture. Good luck with the experiments. Isn't that really what painting is all about!!
ReplyDeleteI love the geese. The grasses are too dark--they should fall back(lighter) given the (light) value range in the geese and their shadow. Darken the shadow the geese' form and their shadow to bring them more forefront OR lighten up (carefully wash out) the background grasses. The drawing is great. I think this can be saved. Work gently in increments. Do not despair.
ReplyDeleteYeah!! Beautiful:) A great choice. Especially the blue on the left. I love how the line of the grasses walks away into the horizon. It's not important, I know, but I think this one will be sold in a short time! Love it so much:)
