I like the background. I wanted to stay away from dark, so I did a few w/w washes, then the final one, which I did w/w, dropping lines of pink and blue and encouraging them to flow vertically. |
However, I am not thrilled with the leaves, which look seriously over-worked. I'm not sure if I'll finish this. |
Kathryn, Don't be too critical of your leaves. When you get your darks in they will recede and I'm sure will look good. For me, I don't think they appear overworked...you just needed to get out and ride Bruno today. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, the background looks great.
ReplyDeleteLove the background Kathryn, and look at it again after you go out and see the horse, I think the leaves are coming along just fine, this will be beautiful when you are done!
ReplyDeleteIMHO the leaves don't look terribly overworked. But, of course, you're the best judge of what you're looking for.
ReplyDeleteI love the background, Kathryn! Certainly a technique worth repeating.
Buddy is coming along beautifully, Kathryn! I wouldn't give up on the leaves! I'm sure you'll figure it out!! and yes, I love the background as well!!
ReplyDeleteI think everything is so beautiful! I love to watch the steps as your progress along on your journey!

The background is super Kathryn, and the leaves look fine to me, I don't really trust your judgement as you are always so hard on yourself :-)) Buddy is coming along beautifully...stunning! You have got mild and sunny weather...the opposite as here, it is cold and snowy, an exceptionally cold winter for Italy. Never seems to stop! xx
ReplyDeleteI really love how Buddy is coming along! All that patience is paying off -- his eyes are so catching and I am in love with the w/w passages of his eyes! This is a complicated painting so you should take all the time you need -- do not rush it! Talking about being slow, we can keep each other company :-P
