I'd like to use this old photo as reference. I think it's from the late 30's, just after the bridge was completed. |
I did have a wet, happy time slopping paint around - on the paper, on me, on the floor ... I was trying to create the effect of rain. After all, Vancouver is on the Wet Coast! |
I did this without any sketching beforehand, and it looks it. |
I feel your happiness when I look at what you have done. I can tell you are having a good time.. and we see the rain, and we feel it!

Well I just love the way you have depicted rain! It's a tricky subject this one and you are far braver than I am! I'll look forward to seeing it progress :0)
ReplyDeleteKathryn!! You're on a roll! I love this painting already!!
ReplyDeleteOften we learn the most from those "Aarrgh" projects, don't we Kathryn!?
ReplyDeletePut your pedal to the metal and drive on my friend! ☺
It's coming. It's coming. Stick it out. It's a tough one. Heavy detail. I'm impressed that you know how to spell aarrgh, blogger doesn't have a clue.

ReplyDeleteFrustrated as you may feel, Kathryn this painting is looking good. Look forward to seeing more! :)
ReplyDeleteI love bridges - they often lead to peculiar reflections! So I shall follow this one with interest
ReplyDeleteWell done Kathryn, very different from your usual 'tight' style, maybe that's why it was frustrating ? But it looks perfect so far , you can do it , I know ! xx
