This is my sister's card finished. She is coming out for a visit today, so I can give it to her then.
Well, all the seasonal madness [my view of this time of year] is over, and we all can start afresh in this New Year. For some reason, I feel quite hopeful and excited about the coming year. Maybe it was the riding lesson I had yesterday, nudging Bruno out of his state of mental and physical inactivity. Horses tend to get a bit lazy and inattentive when not exercised regularly and properly. I got the sense he was telling me "Kath, why don't we just stand around here, and you feed me lots of carrots and apples." Ummm ... NO! Anyway, I thought I would quickly post this before heading down to the barn to play with the lad. I wish you all the very best this coming year - a year of Joy and Peace and Creativity!!! |
Dear Kathryn. Wish you a wonderful 2014 ! You started out beautifully with this boat immersed in the fog , really like how you did the fog, creates such a lovely atmosphere . Your description of a horse could very well apply to me too lol ! Happy birthday to your sister . xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful background washes! A very happy and inspirational New Year to you, Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteTrès bonne année à toi Kathryn, avec de la joie, de la bonne humeur et plein de créativité, sans oublier la santé. Gros bisous ♥

Oh my gosh- we feel like we are right there on the shore watching the beautiful tug floating down the river. We can feel the fog on our face!

Happy New Year!!! ... and keep painting!
ReplyDeleteKathryn, you have done a wonderful job with this "foggy" nautical scene and it certainly shows mood and atmosphere! I admit I have never tried to do a watercolor about fog but you are making this look like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Bruno because I have been feeling that way too. I guess I'm the one who needs a carrot tied to a paintbrush to lead me forth!
Happy New Year!
The background is really coming along well. I have lots of pictures of the tugs, they are so colourful and very prominent on the coast.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your ride, the weather has been wonderful lately!
Happy New Year to you, Kathryn - you have started it off with a very memorable piece! I love the delicate transitions you have achieved - the fog is remarkably done! Have fun with Bruno - how could you not???!!
ReplyDeleteI feel hopeful too this new year.
ReplyDeleteYour boats in the mist is so well done; it has an Asian influence to it. I admire your incredible patience with the medium--something I'm lacking, but not aspiring to achieve. You are a watercolorist. I am a hack. I like to play in the water with the pretty colors much in the same way I did as a kid. And that's what makes the art world go round. One can't help to compare.
Gunk! Stunning work!! You are amazing!! I love the feeling your work evokes...soft, deep, lush, just amazing! I'll be your sis loved her card too! You are a master of the medium!!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for your kind comments on my 30 in 30! Can't believe i'm actually doing it! Thanks for the support!
