Beautiful, but difficult, photo of a neighbor's hydrangea as reference. |
My first timid glazes of some of the flowers' shadows. |
The start of a background was in order. I decided to keep it warm, to accent some of the cooler flower colors in the lower right focal area. |
Here, I've started a road map of the leaves, with some of the sunlight filtering through, giving, I hope, some interest there. |
Hello Kathryn:) I saw the photo and thought: no problem for her! And I was right: it's going to be a beautiful painting with a nice warm background:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reference picture, Kathryn!!! This is going to be awesome!!! Winter isn't officially here and yet I yearn for the summer!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous photo - and I know you wil do it justice!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a challenge! You will do well, going by your progress :) Coincidentally, I am working on flowers, too.Yes, 'out of my comfort zone"!
ReplyDeleteOh, difficult! But a great reference and looking good so far!
ReplyDeleteWell I think it is so beautiful so far! You are SO good at floral painting :0)
ReplyDeleteWell, this type of painting with glazes takes patience (which I don't have) but it's coming along really well so far so just give it the time it needs. So far, so great!! Lovely color of the hydrangeas, too. Maybe do a little on this one and then work on another when you find yourself rushing (that's what I have to do when working on glazing).
ReplyDeleteYou have a great start here Kathryn. So far so good!
ReplyDeleteWow, a beautiful photo. I cannot imagine being capable of painting that. It looks to me like you're off to a great start!
ReplyDelete"Out of your comfort zone" is often a really good thing, even if it's - um - uncomfortable. :)
That is a great reference picture and you have a great start. Glazing and glazing does take time but the results are worth it. Hang in there. I have been catching up on your other work as I have been very busy lately. You have been busy. Have a good Christmas and all the best for the coming year.
