The model, growing in a small spot near Bruno's Eatery. |
It was not meant to get this dark, but by the time I had some colors down, I didn't like how it looked. So on to graded washes of a green/black. |
Washes done, masking off ... onward! |
Still chugging along, trying to see the petals [not ALL of them!]. I think I am about halfway there ... Thank you very much for stopping by! |
I love watching these grow out of nothing, so delicate and accurate (which appeals to the realist me). The dark background really throws the image out in every detail.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'll ever get back to art ... there is so much woodwork to do.
Ohhhhh a real beauty!
ReplyDeleteThe dark background really makes the peony ping off of the page - looking really good so far
ReplyDeleteOh my - the peony is just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful Kathryn! :0)
ReplyDeleteDear Kathryn- wow I am loving this gorgeous peony. You know just the right amount of detail to give this complicated flower. The colors you have chosen are just perfect. So beautiful friend.
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful. One of my Peonys bloomed today in all this rain and it looks beaten down. I hope it perks up when the sun comes back out. Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteTotally beautiful , could be finished already with such lovely and delicate colors. xx

ReplyDeleteI tried drawing one of these flowers but the petals drove me insane so gave up lol
