Progress Report ... or ... the Life and Times of a Perfectionist

I was here a few days ago
Creeping along, darkening leaves an right side of foreground building.

  1. You're going in the right direction. Remember that you want the light to 'pop' in your paintings so the darks have to be adjusted accordingly, even if it means going darker than what you think you should. Photos exaggerate the lights and darks so you can't rely on them for a true read. One more thing, don't be too literal. The iron fencing is not an important component to the painting as a whole and should be eliminated in the case of the far one and just lightly indicated in the one on the right but not connecting all the lines.
    I can see that you're good and I hope this is helpful advice from someone who has been there.
