YAY ... Baby Pictures

The Kid

Around 7PM, I went to get BrunZ from the back lawn, to put him in his paddock for dinner. There was a great kuffuffle of killdeer noises. When I looked in the direction of the nest, there was action. Mom and Dad were very busy trying to keep an eye on the two scurrying kids. [one egg not hatched yet] The kids were ALL over the place, with parents in hot pursuit. I ran back in to get my camera, and then managed to take some decent photos. Boy ... those babies run like the wind, and they are so well-camoflaged. Other than proportional differences, they actually look like miniatures of the parents.

  3. Kathryn, what great shots. I almost can't believe how well camoflaged they are. The speckled egg is unique. Glad you were able to get such wonderful pics.

  4. NIce photos, how well they are hidden in the background. We had some kildeer once that laid their eggs right in the middle of the passageway in the barn, we had to rope it off. :-)

  6. Great pictures, they really to blend into their surroundings. They are so quick, I know I was out walking with my dog and they totally kept him far away from the nest. It was fun to watch them in action. Anonymous. aka artbywendysblog.blogspot.com Yes still having problems commenting with blogspot!!

  7. Wow you captured all of the action:) I've been having fun watching all of the baby birds around my house. We had 5 baby birds residing on our front door wreath. I photographed them every few days. We went away for a week and when I got home I got my stool out again and opened the front door with camera in hand hoping they hadn't flown the coop, and much to my surprise they were all still there and 2 of them almost flew in my house:) So didn't get any pics of that, but I was happy to see that they all made it and were ready to leave the nest.
