Grounded

I left off here last night
Played with the cast shadows

More detail work, and a very simple "ground"

Well, I almost went cross-eyed painting this one, but it's done, and I think it looks alright. I had some very good input from Prabal, about connecting the tires more to the shadow. I thank you, Prabal; it makes a very good difference! I considered putting an angular, geometric shape, from the tractor to the upper right area, but decided a line would serve well to define the open space of the field to be worked.   I was attempting to conceptualize machinery as art, a shape in a design. I think I succeeded. As always, I welcome your comments and input!

  3. It has come out well. Leaving the white of the paper for the background is really brave. If it was me may be I would try to 'fill in' and spoil it.

  6. I have never tried any type of machinary before - You make it look easy but I imagine it to be bery difficult indeed! Fantastic! And the strong shadows really bring it to life :0)

  7. WOW - LOVE THE "ABSTRACTNESS" OF THE SHADOW VS THE MACHINERY. BEAUTIFULLY HANDLED - JUST THE RIGHT TOUCH!

  10. I find very interesting your attemp to reproduce machinery as art, and this painting is very good! I love the coloured shadows, and the contrast of light on the tractor... and I agree with you, it is often easier to paint in a big format. Ciao, Cristina

  11. Very sculptural. Love the colors in the shadow and I agree with Prabal the deep shadow really grounded the whole thing.
