An "Almost Done" and a "What Possessed Me to Start This?"

Reference

I am here.

Reference

Almost there - yellows are actually more intense in real life.

I desperately want to start riding again, but the weather is against me; it's still very wet and bone-chillingly cold.  My fingers almost froze cleaning the paddock today, so sitting in the saddle, holding the reins was definitely out. I did spend a good [and happy] hour grooming the lad though. We both enjoyed it. Then he had his backyard grass time, surrounded by a small flock of mallards.
Anyway, as always, please feel welcome to leave your comments. I love them.  ;)

  2. Ha ha! We all do that Kathryn, and then wonder what possessed us! But it's going to look great, so keep at it! And that Hibiscus is absolutely stunning!

There's nothing like cold weather to put one off riding, but once you're in the saddle (and some warm leather gloves!) it's totally exhilarating!

  3. Not much left now, keep it up! The Hibiscus is really pretty, I think one of the most difficult colors are yellows, but this one is looking so good.
Have a nice sunday...hopefully with riding weather :-)

  4. Beautiful paintings, really fabulous job! One lady at the barn told me to skip up and down the isle before riding. She said it really warms you up and gets you limber:)

  5. Agree it is a difficult piece you have started. I am sure you will do justice to it. Keep going.

  9. They are both looking amazing Kathryn. Beautiful colors and contrast, yet still they both have that delicacy of flowers. And I'm a little jealous that you got to spend an hour grooming your lad. I always loved that, it was almost as fun as riding. :)

  10. You have done it, Kathryn! There is a great sense I'd three-dimensionality on each pedal and the colors are vivid yet harmonic. I can imagine how much effort went into this. You are almost there!

I really like the red-green color scheme. It's a very difficult one but you pulled it off! It sings with intensity yet not garish at all. Well done!

For the Hibiscus painting, I'm curious what color mixture you used for the shadow? It looks really lovely.
