Before I Knew What Happened ...

I started adding some shadow to the leaves ...

... and adding, and then darkened the background once more.
Now there are only some tiny touch-ups to do on the pistils and stamens.

Instead of painting, I snuggled with the cat, and watched three hours of documentary-style disaster movies. There's  nothing like watching several possible scenarios of the end of the world or just the human race to put everything into perspective.

  2. I love disaster movies, they all end well despite the disaster. :) What a difference the shadows make, amazing! There is a beautiful depth in the flower now!

  9. I really like the subtle color transitions on the flowers, and how you subdued the leaves on the left to blend them into the background. The color scheme of this one is very beautiful and tranquil. Well done, Kathryn!

  15. Well done! What a difference! You got rid of those dark edges on the top of the petals when the background was darkened, which was good. The flowers have strength now at the same time as still being fragile, that's very hard to do, but you succeeded. Congratulations!
