Good, but ...

A ground shadow has been added. I have also darkened the geese with washes of a grey mixture. But they just do not stand out enough. The babies are fine, but the adults ... ??? They really need a darker background, and I am not keen to do that - I would loose the glowing effect on the right, and I honestly don't know if I could get a reasonably smooth look.  So ... BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!!

As always, your comments are most welcome!

  1. I enjoy your blog and your watercolors are full of personality. Putting another wash on the background of the geese is a tough one. If you just came part way down you wouldn't have to worry about going around their legs...but could you repeat that glow which is so great. Have fun and keep painting

  2. I love the compisiton and the back ground but your right that the adults need a little something. I might throw in some magenta in the dark places to make them stand out more... Maybe?

  3. Hmmm maybe you could just darken some of the edges of the grown ups in shadow? Then you'd still maintain that glow. :) But I really do love this just the way it is. I especially love the little ones and the background, I think you're smart not to touch that background again.
