Waiting for Inspiration ...

I glazed over all the leaves, darkened the shadow on his face and ears, and painted a color in the shirt. I don't quite feel where I want to go with this now, so I'll put it aside till inspiration bangs me on the head.

This is me, with my second horse, Sweetie.
We did a lot of smooching.  :)
Me, bareback on Tuffy, my first ever horse.

He used to do a great moose imitation on cue!

I feel the need to do something in a more representational rather than realistic vein. I thought something using my appaloosa as inspiration might work. We shall see.

As always, your comments are most welcome.

  1. Hi Studio at the farm,
I envy you. Your life must be so colourful with these horses. I love the last one especially. I have a cat, but I can't rife on her.To see the world from top of the horse, it must give you a lots of ideas to paint.

  2. And Sweetie is a sweetie with all that smooching.

Smart of you to know when to put a painting aside. That sometimes takes me a while of spinning my wheels and getting nowhere before it dawns on me. Smart gal. He's a lovely young man. Thus far you've done a wonderful job.

  10. It is nice to catch up with you and see all that you have done over the past few weeks. I love what you are doing with your green man. You are definitely inspired by the world around you and all the autumn colors. Love the horse mask as well. Hugs to you and your niece.

  11. The painting seems headed for success. But I agree it may not be right to forcibly finish it. All the best :)

  12. Oh what beautiful photos of you and the horses, I always loved horses as a child and dreamed of being able to ride and have my own stables - and you're living that dream, love the portrait too, you're so good at them, you're so disciplined with your art, knowing when to stop and go back when you're ready - that's a skill in itself I think, take care x
